Root your Android

Rooting is for Android as to jailbreaking is for iPhone iOS. Rooting is the process that allows previliged access to Android's Linux subsystem. It provides opportunity to overcome the limitations of the official bundle. For e.g. cell phones that are locked to a single carrier and can't be used with other carriers. Then this helps it out.

Most unrooted android devices nowadays face a big problem of insufficient memory as they don't have direct access to the memory card. They will have all their user-installed apps on the phone storage or the internal storage. But the devices with are on custom Android version such as Cynaogenmod, they have direct access to memory card for the data storage of each app too. Or else users with official Android version but with rooted android can make use of other root apps, for e.g. "Root All 2 SD", which will create an EXT format partition within the memory card and then the data storage of apps can also be moved to the partition making some more available free space in the internal storage. Root app like "Root Uninstaller" will uninstall any pre-installed app from the phone which came along the official android version when it was flashed on to your phone.

You can even overclock your Android device with overclocking apps after rooting your device. This types of apps help you to set minimum CPU speed for your CPU so that your device always has higher CPU speed. Normally, CPU speeds fluctuate with the usage of apps. Sometimes apps may require higher frequency of CPU but the CPU is running at a low speed. Then you can use it to overclock. For e.g. if your CPU max. speed is 600 Mhz., then it helps your device to run in that speed always as you customize it to.

Recently some manufacturers have added security features to their devices at the hardware level as to prevent their retail android devices being rooted. They have a security boot-loader that will put the phone in recovery mode if unsigned firmware is loaded into the device. But every problem has a solution. So this problem was defeated 6 days after the launch of Motorola Droid-X which has the same boot-loader for security. Now this phone can be rooted.
